The Clairs of Mediumship

In Spiritualism you will hear various Instructors/Tutors and Demonstrators talking about the various aspects of working with Spirit, to those who wish to become adept at working for Spirit, and those who wish to gain an understanding of what it is that a Demonstrator is given to enable them to prove the existence of life after death. There are a variety of ways in which a Spirit Guide/Inspirer or departed spirit can communicate with a medium/demonstror/psychic. Often these communications are through what is called the 'Clair senses.'

Clair senses is a collective word, meaning that the Guides' communication can utilise any of the following types of psychic sensitivity which co-mingles/intermingles with the physical body's normal five senses.

Below are the various feelings and aspects of that which we have learned to 'tune into' to successfully work with our Spirit friends, Guides and Inspirers, we at Pathways do hope that this information will help you on your journey of discovery .......The five senses and the Clair sense involved are:

Clairaudience

Clairaudience are sounds or words that a person can actually hear when, in fact, no one is speaking and nothing physical is causing the sounds. The sounds are thought to be impressions that register themselves on the spirillae of the ear's pineal gland. It is believed that clairaudience sounds go through the same process that normal hearing does, passing through the Third Eye chakra of the head.  Clairaudience (clear) & audience (hearing)] is a form of extra-sensory perception whereby a person acquires information by auditory means. It is often considered to be a form of clairvoyance.  Clairaudience is the ability to hear in a paranormal manner, as opposed to paranormal seeing (clairvoyance) and feeling (clairsentience). Clairaudience may refer not to actual perception of sound, but may instead indicate impressions of the “inner mental ear” similar to the way many people think words without having auditory impressions. It also refers to actual perception of sounds such as voices, tones, or noises which are not apparent to the human ear, or recording equipment. For instance, a clairaudient person might claim to hear the voices or thoughts of the spirits of persons who are deceased.

Claircognizance

Claircognizance, clair (clear) & cognizance, knowing.  If you have ever had brushes with precognition--thoughts that felt as though they were inspired, strong impressions, or an inner knowingness--you may have the gift of claircognizance.  You may lose all track of time, or what you have written is directed from a force outside of yourself.

Clairgustance/Clairavorance

In the field of parapsychology, clairgustance is defined as a form of extra-sensory perception that allegedly allows us to taste a substance without putting anything in our mouth. It is claimed that those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste.  Clairsavorance is translated as clear tasting. The person experiences tastes in the mouth without putting anything physical actually in the mouth.

Clairsentience/Clairempathy

Clairempathy is the ability to sense the emotional and physical condition of others from a distance. For instance, if you were to be in an online Chatroom/telephone you would be able to sense the emotion and physical condition of someone you were 'speaking' to as if they were in the room, even though you would only be typing/talking to them.  Clairsentience is a form of perception where a person acquires psychic knowledge primarily by means of feeling,  (extra-sensory).  The word, clair, “clear", is French  - sentience, “feeling,” is derived from the Latin clarus, “clear,” & sentiens, derived from sentire, “to feel”.

Clairtangency

Clairtangency is the psychic faculty that corresponds with the physical sense of touch.  As in say, Psychometry, (touching) which is related to clairsentience, clairtangency. The word stems from psyche and metric, which means “to measure with the mind”. The psychic has a variety of ways to receive information, Tarot, crystal balls and auras for example. But some are drawn to certain methods that work better for them, so we come to Psychometry.  Psychometry is a psychic skill that involves the handling of objects in order to pick up information about that objects, history or the events or emotions of people connected with that object.

Clairvoyance

Clairvoyance means to see into an ethereal dimension without using physical eyes. Some describe it as reaching into another vibration frequency and visually perceive "within the head" something like moving pictures. The third eye area of the forehead is one of the other strongest communication centres that Guides frequently use to communicate.

Simply put it means the ability to gain information about an object, location or physical event through means other than human senses. A person said to have the ability of clairvoyance is referred to as a clairvoyant - one who sees clear images of places, events & people.
